Safety & reliability

The features you hope never to need.

Safety software earns trust by being straight about its limits. So here is what Clym does, what it doesn't, and what we're still proving.

Reliability first

A ride you can't lose is a safety feature.

Long days are exactly when a recorder is most likely to fail and most costly to lose. Clym is built to assume the worst.

Written as it happens

Every second is committed to storage immediately, not held in memory until you press stop.

Recovers by itself

If the app is killed mid-ride, the next launch finds the recording and offers it back. We test this by force-killing rides on purpose.

Records in your pocket

Screen off, phone stowed, app in the background — recording continues, and battery lasts longer for it.

Sharing your ride

Let someone follow along.

Share a live link and whoever you send it to can see where you are and how you're getting on — no account required at their end. The link expires, and you can stop sharing at any point.

You start it, you end it

Live tracking is per-ride and opt-in. It is never on by default and never silent.

Shares position, not identity

The public view shows your ride, not your account, your history, or your home address.

Crash detection — and what it isn't.

Clym can watch for the motion signature of a crash and, if you don't respond to a countdown, notify an emergency contact you have set up in advance.

Read this before relying on it

  • Clym does not call emergency services. It notifies a contact you chose. For genuine emergencies, use your iPhone's built-in Emergency SOS, which is designed and certified for exactly that.
  • No crash detection catches every crash. Some incidents don't produce a detectable signature, and some rough descents do. Treat it as a helpful backstop, never as a safety net you would bet on.
  • It needs a working phone and a signal. A phone destroyed in the crash or out of coverage cannot send anything.

We would rather undersell this than have someone take a risk they wouldn't otherwise take. It ships when we're confident in it, and it will always say plainly what it did and didn't do.

Ride with a bit more margin.
